On Sunday 1st of September the Women's team season came to an end. They came up against Broadview in the Division 3 Grand Final and should be incredibly proud of their effort and achievement over the season.

The girls finished the season 2nd on the ladder with 10 wins and 4 losses earning them a double chance at qualifying for the Grand Final. The Semi Final match vs Broadview was played in the evening at Broadview Oval and proved to be the toughest match of the season, losing by their biggest margin for the year.

The double chance meant they had to beat Eastern Park at Karen Rolton Oval for another shot at Broadview. Knowing Eastern Park would come out early and be hard at the contest, our girls took on the challenge and lead 3 goals to 1 at quarter time. The defenders played a massive role keeping Eastern Park to just the one goal through to three quarter time while our forwards were able to add three goals and effectively put the match beyond Eastern park's reach.

The last quarter was hard fought with Eastern Park throwing everything they had to force a come back but it was too late and we finished the match winning 8.4 to 3.2.

The 4th and final shot at Broadview for season 2019 was set. They have been the division benchmark, undefeated all year so it was always going to be a hard task. Our girls were up for the challenge and ready to give their all for the last 4 quarters of the season.

Broadview came out fast with a goal in the first 2 minutes. The girls locked down the defence working extremely hard to prevent Broadview getting a run of momentum. The first quarter finishing 2 goals to 0. Second quarter the intensity lifted with both teams battling hard to get on the scoreboard. Tough physical contests and lots of congestion around the ball meant that attacking opportunities were limited. Our midfielders were working tirelessly chasing every contest. At halftime Broadview lead 3 goals to 0.

The second half picked up where the first left with a tough midfield battle. Both teams finding it hard to get clear possession and link up play. Defenders were under lots of pressure with Broadview trying to put the game away. Our forwards battled hard often against 2 on 1 situations. Broadview managed to register 2 more goals in the quarter to lead the match 5 goals to 0. At three quarter time Coach Tom told the girls to go all out attack and give everything they have got to finish off the match. Early on, Alexis Mason registered our first goal of the day to the delight of the team and our supporters but unfortunately that was our only goal of the match. The girls fought til the final siren and left nothing in the tank. Even though the result didn't go our way, we couldn't be prouder of the season they have had. After winning Division 5 last year, skipping to Division 3 this year and making it to the Grand Final is an incredible achievement.

Thanks to everyone involved in the team this season, from the coaches, team manager, trainers, runners and of course all the families and friends who supported the girls. Enjoy a well earned off season and look forward to getting stuck into Division 2 season 2020.
